Artisan Group · Water infrastructure & site work
Golf Courses, Agricultural & Large-Property Infrastructure
Large properties depend on the systems beneath them: water supply, irrigation distribution, drainage, access roads, buried utilities and the equipment that keeps operations moving. Artisan Group supports complex property and utility work throughout Southern Utah through excavation, underground water and sewer capabilities and coordinated plumbing services.
We understand the difference between maintaining a finished property and opening a site for repairs or new improvements. From access and utility exposure to pipe elevations, trench conditions and restoration planning, the work needs to respect the land and the operation above it.
Start with the property
What kind of work are you planning?
Golf courses · resort landscapes · managed grounds
A golf property is more than its playing surface.
For superintendents and property teams, the condition of a course depends in part on extensive behind-the-scenes infrastructure. Irrigation sources and distribution, service roads, equipment yards, maintenance buildings and drainage all have to function while daily operations continue.
Artisan Group's underground utility and excavation capabilities are relevant when facilities need access to buried lines, repairs to associated water services, site improvements or construction around existing infrastructure. We plan the scope with the superintendent, property team and any irrigation designer or specialist involved, rather than treating turf and buried utilities as unrelated concerns.
Irrigation-related infrastructure
Water-source connections, buried supply and distribution piping, valves, backflow protection and utility crossings require an understanding of pressure, existing systems and the water source being used. Specialized irrigation design and controls are coordinated with the appropriate professionals.
Maintenance operations
Washdown areas, equipment yards, service plumbing, drainage, utility access and waste connections must support vehicles, machinery and a working maintenance crew.
Access with less disruption
Utility locating, potholing, hydrovac daylighting and appropriately sized excavation equipment can help determine how to expose a line while considering nearby landscaping, structures and active paths.
Agriculture · ranches · rural & expansive properties
Water and infrastructure planned for a working landscape.
Rural and agricultural properties often cover long distances, cross changes in elevation and depend on equipment that cannot be treated like a residential backyard installation. Water services, buried mains, supply points, drainage, utility crossings and access for machinery all affect how a site functions.
We evaluate the work in relation to the property's actual use: where water originates, where it needs to go, what pressure and flow the connected systems require, how equipment reaches the work area and where other utilities may already be buried.
For agricultural operations, we can discuss appropriate underground piping, trenching, connections and site preparation within our capabilities. Irrigation engineering, water rights, source approvals and specialized pumping or electrical design remain with their responsible professionals and agencies.
Whether the project is a new run, a difficult-to-access leak or an improvement near an established operation, the goal is durable, serviceable work with a practical plan for the ground above it.

Supply · distribution · protection
Different water sources require different decisions.
A large site may have potable water for buildings, secondary or reclaimed water for irrigation, and separate systems serving equipment or landscape uses. These supplies are not interchangeable. Their available capacity, pressure, connections, identification and backflow requirements must be verified for the particular property and jurisdiction.
Water lines & connections
Repair, replacement and installation of appropriate supply and service piping, along with valve and connection work. We consider routing, depth, grade, pressure conditions, material compatibility and future access.
Backflow & system separation
Artisan Plumbing provides certified backflow testing, repair and installation within its scope. Protection is especially important where irrigation, fertilizers, equipment and nonpotable sources are involved.
Pumps, tanks & connected systems
When a project includes pump stations, storage, pressure regulation or related equipment, we evaluate the piping interfaces and coordinate specialized design, electrical and controls with the project team.

Excavation · hydrovac · underground work
The excavation is part of the utility installation.
A well-executed underground project depends on locating existing facilities, protecting what remains in place, establishing workable elevations, providing suitable bedding and support, and closing the trench appropriately. The work is not finished when the pipe disappears below grade.
Artisan Group combines conventional excavation with controlled hydrovac daylighting for suitable projects. Larger equipment can handle bulk material and longer runs, while targeted hydro excavation can help expose buried services where added precision is warranted.
Depending on the project, work may involve trenching for water or drainage pipe, underdrains, culvert connections, repairs near access roads, hauling, backfill and preparing the surface for the agreed restoration scope. We evaluate site conditions rather than treating every excavation as the same job.

Beyond the irrigation network
Maintenance buildings, wash areas and working yards.
Golf and agricultural properties also need practical facilities for the people and equipment maintaining them. The plumbing and site plan for a maintenance compound can include restrooms, domestic water, water heating, hose connections, washdown areas, drains, sewer or approved wastewater connections, equipment access and loading circulation.
Vehicle & equipment access
Trucks, trailers, mowers, service machinery and delivery vehicles need room to enter, stage and move safely. Excavation and utility routes are planned with that activity in mind.
Washdown & wastewater
Cleaning stations and wastewater flows require the correct drainage approach, discharge approvals and any necessary pretreatment. We evaluate the plumbing scope against the facility's intended use and local requirements.
Service buildings & specialty connections
Restrooms, break rooms, hot-water supply, gas piping, backflow assemblies and other service needs may be part of a maintenance yard, agricultural building or large property's operations.

Site planning & technical coordination
Work with the property, the operators and the approved plan.
Golf courses and rural sites rarely offer ideal access or uniform underground conditions. Rocky soils, steep grades, existing irrigation, mature landscaping, working vehicles and seasonal operations can change how a project should be sequenced.
We collaborate with superintendents, facility managers, owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, equipment specialists, inspectors and other trades as required. Before work begins, we identify the limits of the scope, utility conflicts, access constraints, planned shutdowns, inspection points and responsibilities for final restoration.
Experience working in desert, mountain and humid environments reinforces the importance of site-specific decisions. In Southern Utah, summer heat, elevation changes, mineral conditions, flash-flood drainage and freeze exposure in higher areas are among the conditions worth evaluating.
For complex work, we focus on the plumbing, underground utility and excavation responsibilities Artisan Group can perform directly, and coordinate engineering, environmental approvals and specialized trades where required.

Southern Utah water & land
Large-property systems in a water-conscious region.
Washington County is expanding infrastructure for secondary and reclaimed water while applying water-efficiency standards to development. Golf courses, resort grounds, agriculture and large managed landscapes are particularly sensitive to the distinction between potable supply, irrigation allocation, reused water and the conditions attached to each source.
These systems demand more than an understanding of pipe. Source availability, water provider rules, cross-connection protection, operational scheduling, soil conditions and future maintenance must inform the work. We coordinate with approved project plans and the responsible water provider rather than promising water availability or determining water rights.
Projects across St. George, Washington City, Hurricane, Ivins, Santa Clara and surrounding Washington County landscapes may have very different water-service and site conditions. Large-property excavation and infrastructure projects beyond the primary plumbing area are considered according to the location and scope.
For regional context, see the Washington County Water Conservancy District and its current water efficiency and infrastructure information.
Large-property FAQ
Planning the right scope.
Does Artisan Group install or repair golf course irrigation systems?
We can evaluate the underground water, piping, connection, backflow and excavation portions of a golf-property project. A full course-wide irrigation design, control system or specialist installation may require an irrigation designer or specialized contractor. We will define the scope before work begins.
Can you help with a buried irrigation main or water line leak?
Yes, depending on the type of line and site conditions. We can discuss locating and exposing the problem, the appropriate pipe repair or replacement scope, and the excavation needed to reach it. Water-source and operating responsibilities are confirmed with the property team.
What is the difference between hydrovac and conventional excavation?
Conventional excavators efficiently move material and open trenches. Hydrovac uses pressurized water and vacuum to remove soil more selectively, often to expose existing buried utilities before further digging. The appropriate method depends on depth, soil, access, nearby infrastructure and project requirements.
Do you work with secondary or reclaimed irrigation water?
We can discuss compatible piping, connections, separation and backflow considerations within our scope. The supplying agency's standards, approved plans and required specialist services determine how any actual connection or modification may proceed.
Can you support golf maintenance yards or agricultural service buildings?
Yes. Plumbing, underground utilities, drains, service connections and excavation for maintenance facilities are appropriate projects to discuss. Site-specific wastewater, equipment, electrical and environmental requirements are addressed with the appropriate trade and regulatory specialists.
