Plumbing Repairs & Leak Diagnosis

Artisan Plumbing diagnoses and repairs water leaks, burst pipes, slab leaks, failing shutoff valves, hose bibbs, fixtures, garbage disposals, and water pressure problems throughout St. George and Washington County. A change in pressure may involve an individual fixture, a pressure reducing valve (PRV), or the incoming water service. We examine the affected plumbing, test what needs testing, and explain the repair options and pricing before work begins.

Water & Sewer Line Repairs

Main water line leaks, broken sewer laterals, recurring sewer backups, and underground pipe replacements can involve much more than the pipe itself. Artisan Plumbing provides sewer camera inspections and line locating, and services sewage ejector pumps, grinder pumps, and lift stations. When a pipe needs to be exposed, Artisan Group can coordinate conventional excavation, hydrovac, plumbing repairs, and backfill while planning around existing utilities, irrigation, and landscaping.

Water Heaters & Hot Water Systems

Artisan Plumbing repairs, replaces, and installs traditional tank and tankless water heaters, commercial water heaters, and hot water recirculation systems. When replacement is appropriate, we consider the property's actual hot water demand, fuel or electrical requirements, equipment location, and future service access. The goal is to select and install a system that fits how the home or building uses hot water, rather than automatically replacing the existing unit with another of the same size.

Water Softeners, Filtration & Drinking Water

Hardness, scale, sediment, and drinking water concerns do not call for the same equipment. Artisan Plumbing installs and services water softeners, filtration and conditioning systems for the whole home, and reverse osmosis systems for drinking water. We consider the water being treated, how the property uses it, and what the client wants to change before recommending equipment. See our separate drinking water filtration page for more about reverse osmosis.

Backflow Prevention

Artisan Plumbing provides Utah Department of Drinking Water certified backflow testing, certification, installation, repair, and replacement. Our work includes irrigation connections, commercial properties, and other systems requiring backflow protection. When an assembly fails or needs replacement, we can also evaluate and repair the surrounding valves and piping rather than treating the device as an isolated component.

Commercial & Multifamily Plumbing

Artisan Plumbing works with businesses, commercial property owners, contractors, property managers, HOAs, and multifamily properties on repairs and system improvements. Services include commercial water heaters, backflow assemblies, water and sewer lines, gas piping, grease traps and interceptors, and sewage lift stations. Our combined plumbing and excavation capabilities are particularly useful where building plumbing meets the underground utilities serving a property, including work associated with tenant improvements.

Beyond the building

Hydrovac & Precision Excavation

Hydrovac uses pressurized water and vacuum recovery to expose buried piping and other underground utilities with greater control than conventional excavation in suitable conditions. For underground water and sewer work, Artisan Group can coordinate utility locating, daylighting, excavation, pipe repair, and backfill within one operation. The approach depends on the existing utilities, access, landscaping, and other site conditions.

Additional Plumbing Work

Emergency Plumbing Repair

Active water leaks, burst pipes, sewer backups, failed sewage pumps, and lift station problems can threaten property or interrupt essential service. Call to describe what is happening so we can assess the urgency and current service availability.

Sewer Camera Inspections & Sewer Diagnosis

Sewer camera inspections, line locating, and scopes help investigate recurring backups, suspected pipe damage, or defects before a targeted underground repair. A camera can help clarify the next step without assuming excavation is the first step.

Repiping, Remodels & Plumbing Rough In

Complete and partial repiping, manifold systems, remodel plumbing, fixture relocations, additions, and rough plumbing for water, drains, and gas. We plan layouts with future access and serviceability in mind.

Gas Line Installation & Repair

Natural gas and propane line installation, repair, and modifications for ranges, dryers, fireplaces, outdoor kitchens, pool equipment, and generators. Routing and system capacity are planned around the equipment and site conditions.

Septic Systems

Septic system installation, repairs, underground piping, and drain field work. With plumbing and excavation capabilities within Artisan Group, we can coordinate the piping and site work involved in the project.

Kitchen & Bathroom Plumbing Upgrades

Faucets, sinks, toilets, tubs, showers, hose bibbs, and associated valves and connections. We handle straightforward fixture replacements as well as the plumbing changes needed for upgrades and remodels.

Find the cause before recommending the repair.

A pressure problem, a recurring sewer backup, and a concealed leak can each have more than one explanation. We evaluate the conditions and use equipment such as sewer cameras, locating tools, or pressure testing when the problem calls for it.

Respect property, people, pets, and neighbors.

Our crews are expected to protect finished surfaces, keep tools and work areas orderly, and be considerate of residents, children, pets, employees, tenants, and neighbors. We pay attention to where equipment is placed, how we access the site, and how the work affects spaces people still need to use.

Limit unnecessary disturbance.

Before opening a wall or excavating a line, we consider access, landscaping, irrigation, hardscape, nearby utilities, and the agreed restoration scope. Where conditions allow, targeted excavation or hydrovac can reduce unnecessary disruption. Some repairs are inherently invasive; those impacts should be considered and discussed before work begins.

Keep decisions clear.

We explain our findings, discuss reasonable options, and provide pricing for approval before repairs proceed. When concealed conditions affect the scope, clients should understand what has changed and why. We can also discuss available payment options, including financing for qualifying projects.

About Artisan Group
Service area & local guidance

St. George & Washington County

Artisan Plumbing serves residential and commercial properties throughout St. George, Washington City, Hurricane, Ivins, Santa Clara, and surrounding Washington County communities.

Local conditions are not uniform. Incoming water pressure, mineral content, older connections, and buried lines beneath established landscaping can vary from one property to the next. We evaluate the actual system rather than treating the entire region as if every property has the same problem.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know what is wrong before contacting a plumber?

No. Tell us what you are noticing, where it is happening, when it began, and whether the problem has changed. Photos are useful when the condition is visible. We can help identify the cause rather than asking you to make a diagnosis first.

What should I do if water is actively leaking?

If it is safe, shut off the affected fixture or the property’s main water supply. Keep people clear of standing water near electrical equipment, and move belongings away from the leak when possible. Tell us whether the water is still running when you call. For guidance on locating shutoffs and other preventative steps, see our Southern Utah plumbing maintenance guide.

What qualifies as an urgent plumbing repair?

Uncontrolled water, a substantial sewer backup, a failed sewage pump or lift station, and a damaged water service line can threaten the property or interrupt essential service. Tell us what is happening; you do not need to label it an emergency yourself. Urgent requests are evaluated according to the problem and current crew availability.

Why did my water pressure suddenly change?

A pressure change at one faucet may point to a fixture issue. A change throughout the building may involve a pressure reducing valve (PRV), a restriction, a leak, water treatment equipment, or the incoming supply. We measure and investigate before recommending replacement. Our guide to pressure reducing valves explains common signs and why pressure can change.

Is Southern Utah’s hard water damaging my plumbing?

Mineral accumulation can contribute to scale on fixtures and within certain water heaters and valves, but it is not the cause of every plumbing failure. We consider the actual symptoms and water conditions before recommending treatment. Our local water quality resource is a useful starting point.

What is the difference between a softener, a filter, and reverse osmosis?

A softener reduces hardness minerals. Filtration targets particular substances or concerns, depending on the filter. Reverse osmosis is generally installed at a drinking water tap to reduce a broader range of dissolved material. The right choice depends on the water, household demand, and the result you want. Explore water treatment and drinking water filtration.

When is a recurring drain blockage a sewer problem?

If multiple fixtures drain slowly, sewage appears at a lower fixture, or a blockage keeps returning soon after clearing, the issue may extend into the main sewer line. A camera inspection and line locate can help evaluate accessible pipe and inform the next step rather than repeatedly treating the symptom. See water and sewer line services.

Will you need to dig up my yard to find a buried leak?

Not always. Depending on the problem, camera inspection, electronic locating, and other diagnostics may help narrow down the location first. If the pipe must be exposed, access, irrigation, hardscape, landscaping, and nearby utilities are considered in the excavation plan. Hydrovac may be appropriate where more controlled exposure is needed.

If a leak is near the meter, is it mine or the water provider’s?

Responsibility depends on the exact location of the failure and the rules of the water provider serving the property. A meter is an important reference point, but it does not settle every situation. We can help investigate whether the affected piping appears to be on the property side, and the provider may need to be involved when utility infrastructure is implicated.

Do I need a backflow test?

That depends on the water provider’s requirements and the type of connection or assembly installed. Irrigation, fire protection, and commercial systems may have specific testing obligations. If you have received a testing notice or have an assembly that needs service, Artisan Plumbing offers certified backflow testing and repairs.

Will a plumbing repair require a permit?

Some repairs do not require a permit; equipment replacements, gas piping, remodels, and larger changes may. Requirements can differ between St. George, Washington City, Hurricane, and other jurisdictions. Where permits or inspections apply to our scope, we discuss them as part of planning the work.

What if a service call becomes an underground repair?

When diagnosis reveals failed buried piping, the repair may require locating, excavation, pipe replacement, backfill, and related site work. Artisan Group can coordinate plumbing and excavation within one operation instead of automatically dividing the work between separate contractors. The exact scope depends on the site and what is found.

How does pricing work?

We first establish what needs attention. Once the work is understood, we explain the recommended scope and provide pricing for approval before repairs proceed. When concealed or underground conditions could affect the final scope, we discuss what is included and what may change.

For your convenience, we accept all major credit cards, ACH payments, and Venmo. Financing options are also available for qualifying projects.
